500 guests enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating the Centenary of St Louis at Tullyglass House Hotel.
International star of ‘Celtic Woman’, Tara McNeill, and her husband, concert pianist, Alexander Bernstein, performed a special medley of songs. Jason Donnelly and his Ta Da Dance Company kept the audience entertained with an energetic set of Irish dance favourites. Compere for the evening, Declan Lawn, screenwriter of BBC's Blue Lights, reminisced about his own school days on the Hill of Kintullagh and the special influence that his St Louis education continues to have on him to this day.
Past and present pupils and staff enjoyed a night that fondly looked back on the school’s history, from its foundation by the Sisters of St Louis in 1924 with an enrolment of 35 girls, to the present day, when 1,200 students make the daily journey to the Hill of Kintullagh. The evening also highlighted the school’s exciting plans for the future and looked forward with confidence to the next one hundred years of excellence in education locally.
Principal, Jacqui O’Neill, said, “Thank you to everyone who attended our celebration. It was a truly memorable evening and it was lovely to meet up again with past pupils, staff, Sisters of St Louis and old friends. I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of the St Louis family and to be able to contribute in a small way to continue to provide the special family education for which St Louis is known. Thank you also to our sponsors and past pupils, whose support has made such a tremendous difference to the school this year, The JAQ Group, The Macklin Group, Hill Vellacott, Creagh Concrete, Tughans, Larsen Building Products, Bathshack and Fibrus”.
