Year 11 Hackathon

15th June 2026

The Year 11 hackathon event today provided our Digital Technology and Computer Science pupils with an engaging and fast-paced opportunity to collaborate and think creatively. Working in small teams, students researched a chosen topic and made effective use of AI (artificial intelligence) tools to generate ideas, organise their findings, and design high-quality presentations. They then delivered pitches to their class, demonstrating skills in critical thinking, teamwork, digital literacy, and public speaking.

A hackathon, typically used in the technology industry, is an intensive event where participants work within a limited timeframe to develop solutions or ideas, ending with a final presentation or showcase. In this school-based setting, the hackathon successfully gave pupils a practical, hands-on experience of using AI while applying their learning in an innovative and collaborative way.
