Sports Day 2017!

27 Jun 2017

St Louis’ held their 41st annual Sports Day on a Thursday 22nd June.  The day climaxed with the 100m and 200m finals followed by the class relays.  These proved very close contests but no class managed a male and female double victory!

Congratulations to Year 8 pupil Ryan Thom who set two new Year 8 records!  In the 1500m final, Ryan knocked nine seconds off the existing record to compete the run in a time of 5 minutes 45 seconds.  In the Javelin, he raised the standard for future Year 8’s even more as he threw a distance of 20.5 metres.  The previous Year 8 record was 13.5 metres.

Once again the 2017 SLG Sports Day was a resounding success.  Well done to all the students who took part in their various events and collected points for their ‘house.’  Sports Day is an excellent showcase of the talent of St Louis’ students who participate whole heartedly and enthusiastically.  This year winning medals were presented on the day so congratulations to the individuals and relay winners.  Well done to Mr Gillan for organising the Sports Day and thank you to all the staff that looked after events and supervised after the tuck shop and ice cream van queues.  Special mention also to Mr Rugman and the Technology Department who made the podium for Sports Day which looked very impressive!  Individual athlete awards as well as House winners will be announced at Prize Giving in September.
