Our Lady of Fatima
A statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which has been blessed by Pope Francis, visited Ballymena to mark the centenary of the final Marian Apparition. As well as this there were also statues of the three shepherd children: St Jacinta, St Francisco and Lucia, servant of God. The apparitions started on October 13th, 1917.
Parish Priest, Father Paddy Delargy, remarked on the occasion: "Thousands of people were inspired by the Apparition of Our Lady and responded enthusiastically to her call for prayers for peace. We will do what Pope Francis urges us to do. Our Lady wants us to pray for the conversion of heart of those who are far from their practice of the faith.”
Year 8 pupils have also been studying the Marian Apparitions and attended a talk on the Fatima Apparitions. Following the talk, pupils were given roses which were blessed by Fr. Delargy. Pupils took the roses home to give to those who were sick or in need. Instructions were given to dry the petals as a keepsake of the centenary celebrations of the Fatima Apparitions.
