Sean Fegan Selected for Summer School
Selected for a Prestigious University Summer Placement.
By Sean Fegan (Year 13)
I recently received confirmation that I had been selected for the Liverpool John Moore University Summer placement. I first heard of this opportunity when I attended the UCAS convention with the careers department and I was very interested in the pathways such a placement might open for me. At the UCAS convention I signed up to receive updates on up and coming events and after receiving information about this placement I decided to give it a go and submit and application.
I have always had a desire to study outside Northern Ireland and I felt that this type of placement would give me a great insight into university life across the water and would enable me to make a more informed choice when completing my UCAS form. Not to mention that it was all expenses paid- a very attractive factor!
The application process wasn’t difficult but I did have to write a personal statement and get a reference written for me. This was made possible by the help and aid of my careers teacher Mrs McAllister.
I am delighted that my place was recently confirmed as there were over 500 applicants for 50 places. I am extremely proud and excited to have overcome the application process and I am looking forward to partaking in this unique experience within the next few weeks. Wish me luck.
