Career in Irish

Year 10 Pupils consider Irish as a Career Lynette Fay, broadcaster and presenter with Radio Ulster, came to St Louis on the 3rd March to talk to years 10 and 12. Lynette spoke animatedly about her job and how Irish played a major part in securing this job. She explained that the Irish language is a vibrant language in Ireland today with the growth of Gaelic games and a need for reporters and commentators within TG4. She pointed out a range of careers using Irish language and how the interest has spread with the constant increase of Irish language education at home and abroad. The pupils were given time to ask questions about careers involving Irish within music, sport, education, media and entertainment and pupils left being more aware of the different career opportunities that can arise from the study of Irish.
